Welcome to the Mitchell Child Development Center (CDC)!

We provide a wide variety of Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programs for children between the ages of 0-5 years old. Our philosophy is to provide robust, individualized early intervention to children as identified through the assessment process. 

Mitchell CDC Information at a Glance:

  • Mitchell CDC serves approximately 200 to 500 children, ages 0-5 years old, per year.

  • Mitchell CDC houses an Early Start Program for children 0-3 years old at Taft Elementary.

  • Mitchell CDC houses Early Intervention, Early Intervention Autism Specific, Extensive Support/Medically Fragile, and Inclusive programs for preschool-aged children. 

  • Satellite ECSE classes are located at the following elementary school sites: Harvey, Jackson, Kennedy, Lincoln, Roosevelt/Walker Community Center, Sierra, Washington, and Taft.

  • Parent involvement and training is an integral part of all our programs. Parent trainings are offered on designated Student Free Fridays at the Mitchell CDC campus. 

  • Preschool Assessment Teams (PAT) assess children who have been identified as having areas of concern. Special education eligibility is determined based upon the assessment results.
